Dishwasher safe – We recommend using a non-citrus, non-abrasive detergent on the air dry cycle and not overloading the dishwasher. Hand washing is recommended for oversized items. Microwave safe – The temperature of handmade, natural clay items may vary after microwave use. We recommend allowing items to cool before taking them out of the microwave or using an oven mitt. Oven safe – Vietri’s casserole and baking dishes can be used in most conventional ovens and dishwashers. They are handmade of very dense clays and fired at extremely high temperatures, making them heat resistant to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important that all terra cotta baking pieces be cured. Italian stoneware collections do not require curing. To cure servers, fully submerge and soak in water for 15 minutes prior to each use. This soaking prepares the dish, reduces cooking time, and prevents the food from sticking. As the Italians do, place baking dishes in a room-temperature oven and then bring the oven to cooking temperature. The handles of these pieces are decorative and should not be used for support. Do not use casserole lids in the oven. Freezer safe – Items can withstand freezing temperatures, but please allow them to return to room temperature before putting them into the oven.

Forma is the result of years of experimentation and hundreds of tests. Our newest Italian stoneware collection, Forma is also our strongest, as it is fired in a special kiln at the highest possible temperatures. Due to these high temperatures and stoneware less porous makeup, the glazes appear to melt, creating beautiful, organic depths of color and movement on each piece. The glazing involves a two-step process: first, each piece is bathed in glaze, and then the glaze is hand-sprayed onto each product for a more saturated look. Color consistency will be different than that of machine made products and additional variations will be seen because of the hand made, multiple step glazing process. Each piece is an authentic work of art, expect color and shade variations.

Its close proximity to other countries and cultures has made it a unique region in Italy, and its ceramic production is distinctive and irreplaceable.

Forma was not born of a sudden idea or a stroke of genius. For me, everything begins with constant research and experimentation with shapes, glazes, clays, and temperatures. I wanted to create a completely original collection, one that breathes warmth, flexibility, authenticity, and the magic of Italian craftsmanship. It took years of effort and hundreds of tests to reach that perfect harmony, and today, Forma is the synthesis of order and freedom, of design and nature, and of grace and strength. Francesco Venzo, the artisan behind Forma, is also the mastermind behind some of VIETRI most popular collections, including Incanto Francesco works in his ceramics workshop with his family in Veneto, Italy. Steeped in tradition but committed to innovative design Francesco carries on his master artisan father’s heritage with handcrafted, original pieces. He hopes that one of his five children will someday carry on in the family legacy.
