Tufenkian Kafkaz a unique hand-knotted flat-woven carpet inspired by the ancient Soumakh weaves of Caucasian Armenia. It is recognized by the distinctive pattern of traditional Soumakh weaving, but Kafkaz represents the evolution of this technique into a more textured and exotic textile that is inherently modern in feel. In keeping with Armenian weaving traditions, Kafkaz is made from Tufenkian’s celebrated unbleached, 100% aboriginal Caucasian sheep’s wool, spun into yarn only by hand. The construction results in an aesthetically pleasing and durable carpet Kafkaz comes standard without fringe and is available in an array of natural sheep’s wool colors, ranging from off-white to dark brown, or in standard or custom Tufenkian Armenian colorsm. With its masterful layered weave and naturally striated colors, Kafkaz by Clodagh lends itself perfectly to subtle design and serves as a quiet, but elegant backdrop to sophisticated interiors.
A great alternative to sisal, Kafkaz by Clodagh is equally comfortable in both casual and elegant installations and especially suitable for high humidity locations where pile carpets may be less appropriate.
