Bulb Fiction story

The iconic incandescent bulb the very symbol of Edisons bright idea has been the source of inspiration for KiBiSis new pendant. Bulb Fictionis close to the original, but the classic shape has been upscaled and designed as a whole unit, uniting socket and bulb into one iconic shape. The fixture creates the allusion of a classic incandescent bulb, hides the low energy light source and ensures a comfortable, soft light.

Bulb Fictioncan be used in many situations in private homes, shops or offices. It works beautifully as a single lamp, but it also looks fantastic when hung in a cluster, in a straight line or in staggered formations. The lamp makes it possible to play with the design by means of tying knots in the cord or by gathering several lamps together to form a modern chandelier.Bulb Fictionconsists of a hand blown acid treated opal glass shade and an aluminium suspension with a soft, organic shape. The cord has been given extra volume using a thick white silicone cover.

Product Philosophy

KiBiSi

Lars Holme Larsen, Bjarke Ingels and Jens Martin Skibsted had collaborated on and off for several years before founding KiBiSi in 2009. The powerful trio started up the idea-driven design company to fully exploit the synergy of their individual successful design companies and architectural firms: Kilo Design (Ki), BIG architects (Bi) and Skibsted Ideation (Si). KiBiSi is considered among Scandinavias most influential design groups today.

KiBiSis founders have a common fondness of the good and rigorous idea. An eternal strive to deliver sincere, serious and clever products which clearly communicate the original idea. The design trio often explores the potential of crossbreeding elements from different disciplines to create untraditional, functional and aesthetic solutions. With a holistic perspective and an architectural idea KiBiSi has created their first lighting design for Lightyears and the result is both surprising and obvious. Based on a common interest in movies this universe was chosen as an inspirational theme for products andtitles underlining the iconic nature of the designs.
